This Privacy Policy describes how NanoKnow, Inc. (“NanoKnow,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the NanoKnow website, application, and related services.
1. Information We Collect

- Name
- Email address
- Affiliation (e.g., university, company, lab)
- Profile or account information
- Content you submit (documents, papers, datasets, notes, comments, metadata)
You may browse parts of NanoKnow without registering.
Account Verification
Section titled “Account Verification”If you register, we may verify your email using a unique confirmation link. This confirms that you control the email address.
Usage and Technical Data
Section titled “Usage and Technical Data”We automatically collect certain information when you use NanoKnow:
- IP address
- Browser type and device information
- Pages viewed and interactions
- Referring URLs
- Timestamps and session activity
We may store server logs containing IP addresses for security, debugging, and operational purposes.
Content and Metadata
Section titled “Content and Metadata”If you upload documents or data, we may extract and generate:
- Metadata (e.g., tags, categories, tools, processes)
- Structural information (sections, headings)
- Derived representations (e.g., embeddings, indexes)
2. How We Use Information

- Operate and maintain the platform
- Enable account creation and authentication
- Provide, organize, and display content
- Improve search, discovery, and knowledge organization
- Process uploaded materials using automated systems (including AI)

- Improve platform performance, usability, and security
3. AI and Automated Processing

- Extract metadata and structure
- Generate summaries or descriptions
- Enable semantic search and recommendations
- Organize knowledge across the platform
These systems may produce imperfect or incomplete results and should not be relied upon without independent verification.

With Other Users / Public

However, no system is completely secure. Your use of NanoKnow indicates your agreement to assume the risk. NanoKnow is not responsible for any acts or omissions of any unauthorized third parties.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Section titled “8. Your Privacy Rights”NanoKnow, Inc. is responsible for how your personal information is collected and used.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR (Europe and UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), and other U.S. state laws.
These rights may include the ability to:
- Access the personal information we have about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data
- Limit or object to how your data is used
- Receive a copy of your data (data portability)
- Opt out of certain uses of your information
NanoKnow does not sell personal information. If we ever engage in activity that is considered “selling” or “sharing” under applicable law, we will provide notice and a way to opt out.

9. International Users
Section titled “9. International Users”NanoKnow may process and store data in the United States or other jurisdictions. By using the platform, you understand that your data may be transferred to locations with different data protection laws.
10. Children’s Privacy
Section titled “10. Children’s Privacy”NanoKnow is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use the platform.
If we become aware that personal data has been collected from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.
11. Third-Party Links
Section titled “11. Third-Party Links”NanoKnow may link to external sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
12. Changes to This Policy
Section titled “12. Changes to This Policy”We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will post updates on this page and revise the “Last updated” date.
13. Disputes; No Rights of Third Parties

Disputes; No Rights of Third Parties”If you choose to access NanoKnow, any dispute over privacy is subject to our Terms of Service, including limitations on damages, resolution of disputes by binding arbitration, and application of the laws of the United States and the State of New York. This privacy policy does not create rights enforceable by third parties.
